Leila is a 28 year-old Persian-Canadian who majored in marine biology with a minor in Journalism. She is a trained scientific diver and a published author in the Dalhousie Gazette. After studying whale behaviour off the East coast of Canada, she now works as an at-sea fisheries observer. Her duties include monitoring compliance and collecting data to improve fishery management.
She is extremely passionate about the SDGs concerning ocean health and water quality. She is also a strong advocate for equality; as a first-generation Canadian, she is familiar with prejudice and wants to empower people to deconstruct normalized inequality.
